WELCOME to the City of Port St. Lucie (City) website for the Crosstown Parkway Extension Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The purpose of this website is to provide the public with a comprehensive source of information about the many components of this project. This website will provide ongoing and updated information about the project’s status, history, schedule, notification of public meetings, project reports, and a host of other material to keep you informed. Perhaps most importantly, it provides a place for the public to offer comments and/or input about this very important Study!

The City of Port St. Lucie is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Originally planned as a retirement community, the City is experiencing substantial problems with traffic congestion, particularly at the location of the two existing bridges within the City. To address this problem, the City, in consultation with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is conducting a PD&E Study to evaluate a third crossing over the North Fork of the St. Lucie River (NFSLR) at the Crosstown Parkway. This project was formerly known as the Third East-West River Crossing Study.

The proposed project would extend the existing Crosstown Parkway from Manth Lane on the west, across the NFSLR to U.S. 1 on the east, a distance of approximately 2 miles. The six lane divided highway and bridge would serve multi-modal transportation alternatives, including automobile, bicycle, pedestrian, and public transit. Alternatives under consideration include the No Build Alternative, transportation systems management alternatives, and multiple build alternatives that provide a river crossing on a new alignment.

PD&E Study

Work on the PD&E Study is progressing at a steady pace. The technical reports which support the Draft and Final Environmental Impacts Statement (DEIS and FEIS) are currently under review by the Florida Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the involved resource and regulatory agencies. In addition, the DEIS is currently under development for submission to FHWA.
